All my children contd
The next dog I remember in my life was a Pekingnese. My dad brought him home from work one day. Dad worked for a company that worked in films on reels. Not the usual 16 mm but the films that the movie theatres played. We used to see all kinds of movies at home- lots of Sandra Dee,Bobby Darin, a few Elvis movies- anyway, this dog had supposedly been owned by Greer Garson and her movie career made it difficult to take care of a dog. So the folks my dad worked for mentioned him to Ms Garson and next thing you know we are the proud owners of Mr Florence Alan Yen. This dog was so cute with his curly tail. The only problem was that he was not very friendly. I dont think he was used to being with children so he spent most of the first night under the coffee table. He seemed happier when he was outside so this probably very expensive dog became an outside dog. When he was around my family, he became very friendly and played with us and let us pet him all the time. However, when company came over, they couldn't go outside unless one of us went with them because Mr. Yen would growl and snap at them. I loved that dog!!!
I really don't remember what happened to him. My parents didnt give him to someone else or send him off to the pound. I just remember that he didnt move with us to our new house. He must have been one of the few dogs that died of old age. He wasnt so young when we got him but it was fun to tell people this dog used to belong to a famous actress named Greer Garson. Most kids my age just replied "Who?"
